  • Registration was reopened at Blood's request. We are flooded with Russian bots everyday. Just delete PM, bot has been banned, but as long as registration is opened the spam will continue.

  • Do you have any idea why our forum is so vulnerable?

I see we do have it, but bots never seem to be a problem with the websites that use google's "im not a bot" recaptcha service. I can't think of a reason why google's would be better.

I'm not familiar with web programming but I could figure it out easily and see if its implementable for us.

I'm supposing that these "bot"s are really just actual user entries huh. If so, maybe ban Russia's IP address?
Forgive me if I said anything stupid, I'm a newbie when it comes to security.

  • Every forum I am a member of has issues with spam bots.

You can use a python code or google's own OCR tool to bypass recaptcha.

A VPN can be used to change an IP.

  • Yea youre right.

Well then...the we are only concerned about letting in users we meet online, we can just make registration password protected. That way, we can let in only the people we want. To prevent bot pass spamming, If password is incorrectly typed 5 times, block for 24 hours or something.

    Would this work?
